He Is With You Always
There have been several moments in my life where I have felt what seemed to be the absence of God.
I have spent nights lying awake, unable to find peace—my mind filled with worries and troubles I was never meant to carry.
I have been in hospital beds, sick and confused, not understanding the diagnoses laid before me, feeling completely alone.
I couldn’t hear God in those moments, but I was never alone. He promised me peace, so where was it?
The truth is, our human minds cannot comprehend the vastness of the Lord. His ways are higher, even when life appears dim, shallow, and empty. Our terminology doesn’t even match Heaven until we step out of the flesh and into the Spirit.
God never leaves us, so why do we feel Him more strongly at some times than others?
Why, in our darkest moments, does He seem so far away?
Have you ever met someone—especially a child—who is usually quiet, but when you mention something they love, they suddenly light up and won’t stop talking?
Father, Son, Spirit. Three in one. All equally God. All light and life. There is no darkness in Him.
He is fully capable of reaching into our darkness to pull us out, but I believe He also knows the strength that is truly within us. He knows that when we say, “I can’t take it anymore,” or “I’m done,” what we often really need is to pause, breathe, step back, and reach for Him.
True strength is the understanding that God is always with you, and when you cannot feel Him, you must reach for Him anyway.
Back to the person who lights up when you begin talking about something they are passionate about—the Father is passionate about Jesus. He is passionate about His Spirit.
When things feel dark, instead of focusing on the darkness or exalting the pain, choose to praise the Son—Jesus.
If we want to feel the Spirit of the Lord, we must dwell on the things of the Lord. Jesus. Not only who He is, but where His Spirit is currently moving.
As I write this, I feel the Spirit moving in the land of unity for His children. He desires unity, connection, and relationship—not only between Himself and His people, but within the body of Christ as a whole.
I feel the sleepless nights of worry trying to overtake my mind, but I choose to focus on the desire for unity within my Father’s heart.
Rather than becoming frustrated because I cannot feel the Father reaching for me, I choose to reach for Him by dreaming of unity within His body—churches becoming one people instead of competing with one another. Praying and listening. Partnering with His heart, even when I cannot feel Him.
Soon enough, it happens.
He moves in like a breath of fresh air. Darkness begins to fade, and my Father’s arms feel near.
He is always with you.
We simply need to learn the power of partnership with His Spirit—what it looks like to focus on the light so He can move in and extinguish the darkness.
He could do it all for us because He is God, but a good Father teaches His children. How will we ever learn if He does everything for us?
I pray this reaches the hearts and ears that need to hear it.
I speak blessing and love over every mind reading this. Peace that surpasses understanding, and strength that knows when it is time to reach for the Father’s hand.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Matthew 28:20
“I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
“He will not leave you or forsake you.”
